Mr. Kaan Quan Hang

Delivered from duodenum cancer

Healed at the Miracle Service, Singapore

On November 12, 2000, brother Kaan Quan Hang passed out blood clots in his urine, an indication of internal bleeding. He was hospitalized and discovered to have a malignant tumor was found in his right kidney. His doctor explained that the whole kidney had to be surgically removed due to the severity of the cancerous growth. With much deliberation, brother Kaan went ahead with the surgery.

However, at the follow-up appointment, he was shocked to learn that cancer had spread to the vicinity area of his kidney. His condition was so serious that his doctor did not expect him to live beyond nine months. Nevertheless, he was encouraged to undergo chemotherapy treatment to keep the cancer under control and radiotherapy treatment to clean up the affected area. He opted for radiotherapy treatment because of the low success rate of chemotherapy.

The treatment went relatively well. Within two months, he regained his usual weight and managed to work again. Things seemed to be back to normal. However, two and a half years later, he threw up after taking his meal one day. Initially, the vomiting took place once a week. But when it increased to every four-hourly after just six weeks, brother Kaan went to his doctor again. An endoscopy confirmed that cancer had recurred and even spread to his duodenum, the first part of the small intestine. As the tumor was found to be at a sensitive area, no operation could be performed to remove the cancerous cells.

The discovery took brother Kaan by surprise as there was no weight loss or other symptoms prior to that. By then, he could hardly eat or drink anything without throwing up. His doctor performed a stomach bypass surgery to allow him to eat without vomiting. Two weeks later, however, he was still throwing up and that aggravated his already dehydrated condition. His doctor had to force-feed him via a tube through his nose and also insert a tube into his stomach to aspirate the juices that caused the vomiting.

From his normal weight of 72 kg, his weight nose-dived to 52 kg in just two weeks as his food intake was greatly affected by the vomiting. Having no urge to eat whatsoever, all he could take in was two bites of food and two sips of water every six to eight hours. All attempts to improve his appetite by bringing him delicious food and soup failed. Another four weeks later, he was reduced to just a bag of bones, weighing a mere 42 kg. He was discharged from the hospital because there was not much his doctor could do for him.

It was during that time that a nurse introduced a Gospelighter to him. During his visit, the Gospelighter prayed for brother Kaan and also encouraged him to attend the Miracle Service. Brother Kaan agreed and finally attended the Miracle Service in October 2003. Throughout the service and prayer, he did not feel anything unusual. That night, he slept shortly after he got home. At midnight, he woke up and as usual, he made for himself a quarter cup of hot drink and attempted to eat some biscuits. Prior to that, it would be just two bites, two sips and he had to pour away the rest of the drink but something unusual happened. He was surprised that he could eat more than two pieces of biscuit and drink the quarter cup of beverage. He knew that night that he had received a wonderful touch from the Lord.

From then onward, his improved appetite allowed him to eat and drink more and also more frequently. Noticing that he was gaining weight and strength, brother Kaan’s doctor started him on another chemotherapy treatment that would last for 27 weeks, although the doctor was not too optimistic of the outcome. After just two third of the course, his doctor was astonished that the growth had shrunk to a size not measurable by the scans. Even before the end of the treatment, no trace of the tumor could be found. Subsequently, brother Kaan had gone for two more check-ups and his doctor had given him a clean bill of health on both occasions. Through his conversation with his doctor, brother Kaan learned that medically, chemotherapy could only control and at best, reduce the cancerous growth but not totally remove it. His recovery was nothing short of a miracle.

Through this wonderful healing encounter, brother Kaan, who was resistant to the Gospel before, had received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Hallelujah!
