Ronnie Ong
Delivered From A Career Crisis
Healed at the Miracle Service, Singapore
It all started with Ronnie Ong working in a very established multi-national
corporation. With a promotion every other year, his climb at the corporate
ladder was swift and he became a director at a relatively young age.
Although
Ronnie had been a Christian for many years, he led a lukewarm Christian
life. He even began to think that he was the master of his own destiny
and take for granted the good life he was enjoying.
Subsequently, he was
headhunted to join another company. At that point, he was attracted solely
to the 40% increase in salary if
he were to accept the offer. Without seeking God's guidance or much prayer,
he found the job offer too good to pass. However, as soon as he commenced
work in the new company, he discovered that the working environment was
extremely political.
As time passed and the situation deteriorated, he
took a stand of not getting involved in company politics and for that,
he lost
favor with the board of directors. That eventually cost him his job at
end of 2002. All of a sudden, Ronnie, who had always been self-willed
and self-confident, found himself in a dire situation he never thought
that he would have to go through.
Incidentally, Ronnie and his wife, Christina,
were introduced by a good friend to Lighthouse Evangelism as a place
of worship in July
2002. As they witnessed how God healed the sick in body and the wounded
in spirit at the Miracle Service, they recognized their own spiritual
needs and prayed for His forgiveness for backsliding. In the six months
leading up to his fall, they decided to cling on to God's words. When
Ronnie sensed the impending perils of losing his job and Christina had
frequent anxiety pangs, they prayed deliberately that his fall might
be
averted.
Although their prayer seemed unanswered when the fall eventually
came, they were not bitter with God. In fact, through this incident,
they
became even more aware of how much they had to depend on Him.
Initially,
Christina felt betrayed especially when the person who did Ronnie in
was a family friend. But she began to learn from the
Miracle Service that God could heal a wounded heart by forgiving. Many
a times, she was able to find from the service a message or a testimony
that lifted her spirit above the bitterness that threatened to wreak
havoc
inside her. Through reading Pastor Rony's book, "The Art Of Living",
she was also able to live effectively in the present and avoid dwelling
in the past.
Ronnie and Christina started reading the Bible daily and
fervently to get wisdom and encouragement from God. For the first time
in their 16 years of marriage, they prayed and fasted together in agreement.
Tremendous peace came over them. All that had finally led to a restoration
of their hearts to the Lord. As Ronnie grew stronger spiritually, he
found
it easy to even pray for the person who had let him down.
When there seemed
to be no breakthrough in his job search, they went into prayer and fasting.
This time, they also sought prayer
support from their zonal pastor and cell leader. In March 2003, as they
discovered from the Bible the principle and the significance of tithing,
they immediately put it in practice. They also taught their children
to
pledge one tenth of their allowance to the Lord.
In early April 2003, Ronnie began receiving job offers.
Miraculously, they were all senior positions. Instead of just selecting
the job that pays the highest, they fasted and prayed for a clear direction
from God. When they finally decided at the end of May on one job offer,
they were pleasantly surprised that Ronnie would be presented with a substantial
sign-on bonus. Furthermore, on that same day, their son who had a learning
disability in the past, joyfully reported to them that he was first in
his class. What a wonderful Lord we serve!
